Child Protection

The Child Protection Co-ordinators have been trained, and have skills from their professional lives that enable them to ensure that the parish adheres to the policies laid down in the document “Keeing Children Safe” from the Bishops’ Conference.
Their main work is to keep children safe in the parish environment.

They ensure that those who work with children on behalf of the parish have been SCRO checked and have done adequate training.

They also will provide a service to anyone who wishes to raise confidentially any issues of concern about the safety of children at the parish.

By this service they remove any recourse to the parish priest and they will liaise with the Diocesan and National child protection officers.

“As a church community we accept that it is the responsibility of all of us, ordained, professed, paid and voluntary members to work together to prevent the physical, sexual or emotional abuse of children and young people.”
(Keeping Children Safe, 1998)

The group has several members including the priest.

In the first instance, they can be contacted through the Chapel House on 0141 882 4868.
